About Us

Hi there.  Come and meet us – we’re glad you’re here!

About this site

This site was created:

  • to help people choose their dog right, first time and every time
  • to show people with dog allergies that they can have a dog,
  • to help people once they have their dog, and
  • to reduce the number of dogs abandoned, mistreated and destroyed.

About me

My name’s Beverley Nash.  I’m a dog in human form.  I’ve always been nuts about dogs and couldn’t imagine life without them.  Here’s a pic of me and Kylah, one of my gorgeous girlies.

I’ve always had dogs around me.  My grandfather had a whippet/collie cross and we had two Cavalier King Charles, Winston and Shula.  (Cavaliers by the way are truly one of the best all round family dogs you’ll ever find).

I’ve always stopped and spoken to dogs.  I terrified my mum one day on holiday in Spain.  I was about 6 years old and couldn’t resist a lovely black labrador on the beach.  Of course I didn’t know about rabies then!

Lots of people have remarked on how ‘dog friendly’ I seem to be over the years – able to touch dogs that normally wouldn’t allow strangers anywhere close.  My Vinnie was one of those.

I was without a dog between the ages of 18 and 25 because I was moving about and in full time work.  But as soon as the dust settled , that was it.  I had a house and a massive park just across the road, so I was straight off to the rescue centre in Birmingham (UK).

There were 2 dogs I was interested in, a lurcher and a Doberman.  My then partner wanted the Dobie girl so that’s who we got.  Hmmmm. Beautiful as she was, Vanna had serious personality, dog aggression and health issues – which the rescue centre didn’t warn us about.   And I hadn’t asked any of the right questions.  The 10 months we had Vanna was a baptism of fire and no mistake.  But we were still devastated when she died.

I also threw more than £3,500 ($5,000) down the drain on a beautiful dog who was all wrong for me.  I ignored all the warning signs and paid a heavy price.  It was distressing and heartbreaking.   And not something I want anyone else to repeat.

But when I found ‘my breeds’ all that changed.  I fell in love with greyhounds and lurchers.  They suited me and I suited them.  Since 1997 I’ve owned 6 greyhounds, 3 lurchers and 2 azawakhs.  I still have 5 of these with me now.

I made up for my early mistakes by using what I’d learned to help others make great choices.  I fostered rescue dogs for about 12 months and then moved onto the rescue merchandising, mail order business and running a stand at dog shows.  I also helped a friend of mine in Austria find her perfect ‘English Racing Greyhound’.  Tigi now lives with Doris near Vienna and has great fun showing the european greyhounds a clean pair of heels on the nearby Czech racetrack!

I also became a dog breeder by accident!  I was interested in getting an azawakh, and came across a pregnant bitchowned by someone who needed help desperately.  I jumped in with both feet. My friends at Kel Simoon Azawakhs in Virginia went to collect Dari and she gave birth to 6 beautiful puppies in 2007.

These are all now in amazing homes.  ‘Mum’ Dari lives in Washington.  Journey lives in Canada. Scout lives in Ohio and is a demon on the coursing field.  Zel lives in Africa (via Washington).  Afella lives at Simoon,  and Amali with friends of mine in UK. Achat is owned and adored by David Moore of Azawakh Idiyaat Es Sahel.

You’ll also see me regularly at Crufts, the worlds largest dog show in the UK.  I ‘woman’ the azawakh stand with my friends, and sometimes Blue comes too with Robin and does the greyhound rescue stands as well.

So for 20 years I’ve been absorbed in dogs – mine and other peoples.  I’ve given tons of advice on all aspects of dog ownership.  I do this because I love dogs, and love to help people get the best out of their dogs.

I want to make you into the same joyful success story.
